If that’s the case, reboot the system and try again. If you are unable to delete File or Folder in Windows 10 due to lack of permissions, you can follow the steps below to change the permission levels for the concerned File or Folder. If you are still receiving errors while deleting the file, it is very probable that Windows is blocking the deletion due to insufficient permissions or some system process is using the target file.

It is that simple to force delete a file in Windows 10. If Windows is able to delete the file, you will see a “Deleted File” response. So, I entered the file name along with its. In my case, the file I’m trying to delete is a zip file. Now, execute the below command while replacing fileName.ext with the actual file name along with its extension.

This will take you to the folder where the file is located. Once you are in the target drive, execute the below command while replacing the dummy path with the actual path you copied earlier.

If the file you are trying to delete is in the C drive, you can skip this step.
